Learning a new language is a long journey and the key to success is practice, practice and practice. It is important to use what you have learned in authentic situations. By now, students have learned a number of sentence structures that are useful in communicating in everyday situations. They can greet each other; they can talk about the weather; they can tell others what they like. Be creative! Try to use these different questions and sentences in new contexts to create short skits. That will help you reinforce what you have learned.
During the past week, we have been working on the days of the week:
lundi
mardi
mercredi
jeudi
vendredi
samedi
dimanche
Here is a song that will help you learn the vocabulary:

J'aime.../Je n'aime pas...
We have been focusing on the sentence structure J'aime... Grade 3 and 4 students also explored the negation Je n'aime pas... Combining this sentence structure and the vocabulary we learned from the unit St. Valentin, students are able to express what they like and what they do not like.
We have also been playing a counting game. Ask your child to explain to you the rules of the game! Some classes are working on counting from 1 to 10; others have tried the game up to 15. It is our goal to eventually count up to 30.
Some classes started learning the traditional French song Tourne, Tourne Petit Moulin. If you are interested in learning too, here's the link:

Have fun speaking and singing in French!
